  12. I have some good friends that are providing technical assistance to
  13. Russian oil companies at remote sites in Siberia. They currently have
  14. a dish and access to a Russian communications satelite, but it isn't
  15. in a stable orbit and tends to wobble and tumble. They have fair voice
  16. communications and fax transmission, but have been unable to get
  17. modems to handshake.  I believe that the transmissions come down in
  18. Estonia.

  20. Is there a brand of modem that seems to be better suited to satellite
  21. transmission? Any hints or tips?

  23. My brother (a Honeywell engineer) has suggested an INMARSAT land
  24. station. Anybody have any experience (voice or data)? I understand
  25. that portable units are a little pricey...
