- I have some good friends that are providing technical assistance to
- Russian oil companies at remote sites in Siberia. They currently have
- a dish and access to a Russian communications satelite, but it isn't
- in a stable orbit and tends to wobble and tumble. They have fair voice
- communications and fax transmission, but have been unable to get
- modems to handshake. I believe that the transmissions come down in
- Estonia.
-
- Is there a brand of modem that seems to be better suited to satellite
- transmission? Any hints or tips?
-
- My brother (a Honeywell engineer) has suggested an INMARSAT land
- station. Anybody have any experience (voice or data)? I understand
- that portable units are a little pricey...
-
- Thanx
